The Minor Lakes of Northern Italy Are Marvelous Places To Visit

The Minor Lakes of Northern Italy are a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by travelers seeking tranquility and natural beauty. Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Italian Alps, these lakes offer a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Perhaps this is why many tourists look for lakes as a destination for their walks. I confess that I also prefer this type of planning.  On the maps, I first look for a lake and then see how I can get there.

Lago Sirio

In the plane, you will find lakes like Lake Viverone and Lake Sirio (photo), which are known for their calm waters and lush surroundings. These lakes are popular spots for boating, fishing, and picnicking, offering a peaceful retreat for those looking to unwind and connect with nature. 

The area near the city of Ivrea is called exactly that: Five Lakes. There are also peat bogs there, Terre Ballerine, where a lot of people go for this unique experience of feeling the waves of land moving beneath your feet.

Lake Agnel

Venturing into the valleys, you will come across gems like Lake Ceresole and Lake Serrù, where the tranquil waters are framed by rolling hills and quaint villages. These lakes are perfect for leisurely walks along the shore, admiring the reflections of the surrounding mountains in the crystal-clear waters.

As you ascend to the high mountains, you will encounter lakes, which are set against the dramatic backdrop of towering peaks and rugged cliffs. These lakes are a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide range of activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and paragliding.

No matter which of these Minor Lakes of Northern Italy you choose to visit, you will be greeted with stunning natural beauty and a sense of peace and tranquility that is truly unforgettable.
