Having left the car near the church of S. Vitalino I went to "visit" the ruins of S. Elisabett church. I was sure that this church was very old, more or less before the 10th century. But on the information folder nearby it says that it was built in 1638, I think, and was in operation until 1931.
It is said that even in the 60s of the last century women brought flowers there after working in the fields.
There is now a picnic table in front of the ruin. It wasn't there before when I passed by a few years ago. The administration of Roppolo, a larger village nearby, and others take great care to clean the paths and keep the places interesting for the people who come to walk there from all over the province.
The area is very popular. You always find more solo and groups of people walking there. It's a kind of park with really many attractions.
Medieval villages, fortresses, solitary towers, legends of battles from the time of Charlemagne to the last war, and an infinite number of prehistoric artifacts in the woods that you find literally everywhere: carved stones, villages (poles sticking out of the lakes and reconstructions near them). In short, there is everything.
I have decided that I am going to see Lake Bosi which I have not seen before. They say it was dry for a few years but now there is still water. By the way, there is the biggest lake in Piedmont, Viverone, nearby. A hike around it is very interesting, too.
After two weeks of cold (the temperature had even dropped below 5 degrees Celsius) the heat suddenly arrived. It was really very hot, around +25. This weather wanted a short-sleeved t-shirt and shorts.
I found a great variety of flowers that are not yet present in other places where the cold winds come from the mountains. Here, however, the grass is now tall and there are flowers everywhere.
The woods are very beautiful now when there is new grass and the first flowers but the trees don't have their leaves yet and you can see everything from afar. It's strange, but there are many animals in these woods. I even saw a deer not too far from this place once. With all the motorcyclists, cyclists, hikers, and people who come just for a walk, you expect that you won't find any animals. Instead, there are also wild boars and many others.
I chose the motorcyclists' path and was thinking that I was lucky that they weren't there today (the path is too narrow) when - HERE THEY ARE! Barely keeping to the edge of the path I managed not to fall under the wheels. But in return everyone greeted me. And I accompanied each one with a smile (hopefully not too crooked).
In the woods, I also met the new owner of the lake who, together with a local "guide", was exploring the surroundings.
In short, not a long but fun walk.
