We are located in a small town in Piedmont Italy a few steps from Turin on the bank of the Po river. Today I took a walk in the city, which has a beautiful center from the Renaissance period. The "urban trekking" lasted two hours and in this time I covered 6 kilometers, says my counter on my phone (I honestly don't know if it's true...).
On the train, going to Turin, I passed through this city a thousand times, but this was the first time I came to visit it. I had a city map with a description of all the interesting monuments and the day before I simply read what was written on this map. I've decided where I'm going, and what I want to see.
In this post, I want to tell you about the city's cathedral which is a real jewel (this is my personal opinion), a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
The church is located in front of the castle of the Marquis of Monferrato who at the time chose Chivasso as his headquarters. But he had died before the church was finished and his heir had neither time nor money to take care of this construction. As often happens, when the person who put so much into the enterprise is missing, it is abandoned.
The huge bell tower was built in the late 15th century and had a large spire. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the old images. Sometimes you find paintings of the city from various periods, perhaps I should visit the local history museum if it exists.
